What is Buttock Augmentation?
Depending on the amount of fat and the patient's anatomy, there are a number of interventions that can be applied either individually or in combination in this procedure.
● Silicone buttock implants can be used to lift and increase the volume of the buttocks
● Liposuction to remove excess fat in the waist region to give shape to the buttocks
● The use of the excess fat removed through liposuction as a filler to change the volume and the shape of the buttocks
● Buttock lift surgery performed to lift sagging buttocks
These procedures can be performed alone or in combination to achieve the desired outcome.
There are many different reasons why the hips and buttocks may not have the desired appearance;
• Familial or genetic predispositions or factors
• Sudden weight loss or frequent cycles of weight gain and loss
• The effect of gravity on the skin as we age
What is Buttock Augmentation Surgery?
The methods used to gain volume and obtain a more attractive contour are basically divided into two. One of them is a method in which the volume of the buttocks is increased by injecting fat
into area. The other is the implantation of silicone implants in the appropriate size and shape specially produced for the buttock/hip area.
In both operation methods, volume increase is mainly planned for the upper parts of the buttocks
. Fat grafts or implants are generally not used
In the lower parts of the buttock
. As there is a possibility of injury to important nerve and vein structures existing in this region, cosmetic interventions in the lower buttocks are not prefered.
If there is excess fat in the waist region that reduces the protrusion of the hips, liposuction can be performed at the same time. The excess fat is removed from the waist which not only reduces its size but also increases its length, therefore bringing into focus the hips, which creates the hourglass silhouette.
How is the Buttock Augmentation Performed?
The silicone implants are placed by using the fold of the inner part of the buttocks so that the incision is not directly visible. Just as with breast implants, hip / butt implants are available in different shapes and sizes. These implants can be applied in various positions, such as under or over the muscle, just as with breast augmentation procedures. The decision about the implant type and application area will be decided after your personal expectations and preferences are assessed and your doctor conducts his examination and provides his evaluation.

It is important to pay attention to these instructions so that the implants are fixed to the desired area following the surgery. Are the Implants Used for Buttock Augmentation a Risk to My Health?
At Istanbul Surgical Arts, due to our sensitivity in the area of patient health and safety, the implants used in these surgeries are FDA
approved products. Therefore, the implants to be used in your hip / butt procedure are easily accepted by the body.
However, unlike breast implants, due to the characteristics of the hip / buttock region, the risk of infection is greater. In such cases, your treatment in the recovery period may take longer or you may need to have the implant removed. The important thing to know is that the bigger the implant used, the more likelihood of complications.
How is Buttock Augmentation Achieved Through Injected Fat?
Autologous fat grafting
, otherwise known as autologous fat transfer, is the process where excess fat extracted from a different region of the patient's body and this is used toadd volume to the patient's hip/buttock region through injection.
How is Autologous Fat Grafting Performed on the Buttock Area?
In this process, an appropriate amount of fat is removed via liposuction from a suitable area in the patient's body. Once the fat has been filtered and turned into pure form, it is injected to the upper area of the buttocks through tiny holes through the use of special cannulas.
If there is any excess of fat in the waist region that reduces the protrusion of the hip, the fat can be removed from this area. In this way, while fat volume transfer is achieved with the fat transfer, a thinner waist is obtained through liposuction. In this way the result is much more effective.
How Long Does the Fat Grafting Buttock Augmentation Procedure Take?
First of all, liposuction of excess fat from an appropriate region of your body will be performed and then the transfer of this fat to the buttock area will be carried out. This will take an average of 1.5 to 3 hours.
What Kind of Anesthesia is Used in the Fat Grafting Buttock Augmentation Surgery?
The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia.
Will There be Scarring as a Result of the Fat Grafting Buttock Augmentation Procedure?
There is no need for any long incisions to be made to remove the excess fat from one part of the body, or to transfer it to the buttock area. Only a few tiny holes not exceeding a diameter of 1 cm are used. Within the months following the procedure, these holes heal completely and are hardly visible in almost all patients. However, in patients with a history of hypertrophic scars or keloids, these holes may be more prominent, which may require additional treatment.
Can the Fat Grafting Buttock Augmentation Procedure Cause Any Adverse Effects on Health?
If implemented with the right approach, no. Because fat tissue is an unlimited source for each person, it is easy to get the right amount of fat from every patient, except in extremely thin patients. However, it is important to remember that as the volume of fat supplied to the buttock area increases so does the possibility of complications such as infection and displacement.

What is Buttock Lift Surgery?
A buttock lift improves and removes excess, sagging buttock skin by raising and tightening the skin over the buttocks. Incisions are made at differing lengths to remove excess skin and to provide a lifted and tight finish, making the buttocks appear less saggy, dimpled or wrinkled.
If there is not a lot of excess skin or sagging, the operation is performed by entering the middle or the top border of the buttocks. The incisions used are of varying length depending on the need of the patient and the procedure is performed by lifting the buttocks.
If excessive sagging is present, excess skin is removed using horizontal incisions at the top of the buttocks. At the same time, with the use of firm anatomical structures under the skin, the butt is fixed upwards and a more taut, and raised buttock is achieved. In addition to sagging, if there is a loss of volume, fat grafting and occasionally buttocks implants can be used to remedy the loss of volume during the same session.
