An incision needs to be made in order to place the implant under the breast tissue. The incision may be made in one of three places,
• Around the areola or
• In the armpit area or
• In the crease of the breast
When the implant is inserted by making an incision around part of the areola
, the scarring blends with the colour already present in the areola.
When entered through the armpit
, the incision will be hidden in this area.
When the breast crease
is used, the incision in this region disappears over time as it will correspond to the skin fold formed by the breast tissue.
After the required area is provided by entering from these three regions, the implant can be inserted. When the implant is inserted through the crease of the breast there is an incision made of approximately 3 to 4 centimeters. Because this is a natural crease found in the body, it is not easily visible. Through post-operative laser application, we are capable of making the trace further unnoticeable. For these reasons, the most appropriate approach is to perform the surgery through the crease of the breast.
In addition to this information, saline-filled implants can be inserted through the the belly button. This means that the incision and resulting scar remains in the belly button area. However, this method is not possible for silicone filled implants and saline-filled implants are not the implants that are recommended in breast augmentation.
The entry point to be used is always determined with the patient and the doctor together, and the patient is fully informed of the process and details of the surgery.
