The most effective and easiest way to make a strong first impression...
For both men and women, having a strong, well defined chin and jawline provides balance and the makings of a beautiful and attractive face. A weak jaw that is retracted in position causes a weak and unattractive first impression when viewed from the profile and the front. Achieving a strong and well defined jawline is easier than you might imagine.

What is Chin Augmentation?
Chin Augmentation is the name given to operative and non-operative procedures performed to add volume to create a strong and protruding chin and jawline. The method that will be most suited to your individual needs will be decided on following your initial doctor's consultation. Your preferences and expectations coupled with the identified needs, and the volume that needs to be added will play a role in the determining method that will be recommended to you.
What is Non-Operative Chin Augmentation?
Non-operative chin augmentation is achieved through the use of fillers, to achieve the desired volume and appearance in the jawline. This method is applied where the chin requires a small amount of volume to be added. It is an easy intervention because surgery and anesthesia are not required and it is a relatively easy procedure. Following the non-operative chin augmentation you can go back to your day to day activities immediately. It is advisable to have a follow-up visit within a week or two of your initial procedure. During this visit your doctor may add some additional filler to perfect the contour of the chin.
How Long on Average does the Non-Operative Chin Augmentation Procedure Take?
The use of fillers to add volume to the chin and jawline takes approximately 10-15 minutes. This procedure does not require anesthesia.
Is Non-Operative Chin Augmentation Permanent?
The fillers used during the procedure are not permanent. The filler lasts somewhere between 8-12 and 18 months depending on the product used. The process requires re-application after this time.
Is the Filler Used in Non-Operative Chin Augmentation Safe?
At Istanbul Surgical Arts, the safety of our guests are our first and foremost priority. For this reason, we use FDA-approved products containing only hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite in all procedures where filler is used.
What is Operative Chin Augmentation?
There are two basic methods used in operative Chin Augmentation methods. One of these is the "autologous fat graft" method in which the patient's fat is used to increase the volume in the chin and jawline. The second is the placement of implants manufactured specifically for the chin and jawline.
In the application of autologous fat graft, the patient’s fat is removed by liposuction from an appropriate area of the body under operating room conditions and this fat is injected into the chin area. It is a comfortable operation that does not require hospitalization. After resting for a few hours at the hospital, you can go to home and return to your normal daily routines the following day.
There are different types of prepared chin implants available for this procedure. Porous implants and silicone-based implants are the most preferred implant types, both of which are sponge-like and resemble bone. However, silicone chin implants are preferred because they are easily accepted by the body and can be easily placed in the region.
Where are the Incisions Made in Operative Chin Augmentation?
The chin implants are inserted through an incision in the mouth or a small cut formed under the chin. Incisions made in the mouth are never noticeable due to their location. When the location under the chin is used to insert the implants, the incision is less than 1cm in length, and once again its location makes it almost impossible to notice.
What Kind of Anesthesia is Used in the Chin Augmentation Procedure?
If the chin augmentation is performed by autologous fat graft method, sedation or general anesthesia is used. If implants are to be used, the surgery will be conducted under operating room conditions with general anesthesia, local anesthesia or local anesthesia coupled with sedation. The type of anesthesia to be used depends on your preferences and on the doctor's recommendation following your consultation.
How Long on Average does the Operative Chin Augmentation Procedure Take?
It takes on average 45 minutes to 1 hour.
What Should I be Aware of Before the Procedure?
• Smoking is a risk factor for any surgical procedure. It is recommended that you do not smoke for a month before and after the procedure, especially because it can cause discomfort and additional complications in wound healing. • It is recommended that you do not take aspirin or medications that contain aspirin 2 weeks prior to surgery. • It is recommended you do not take alcohol the night before the operation so that dehydration does not occur. • You should not eat or drink anything 8 hours prior to the surgery. • Following the surgery, we recommend that you have comfortable clothing with you for your stay in the hospital (tracksuit, nightgown with buttons down the front etc).
What Can I Expect Following the Chin Augmentation Procedure?
Regardless of which method is used, you can see the result of chin augmentation immediately after the procedure. Pain is not expected and if it occurs, it can be easily controlled through the use of painkillers. Some swelling may occur but will subside within a few days. You will need to protect yourself from trauma to the chin area for a few weeks after the procedure.
