What is Ear Surgery?
Protruding ears are a congenital condition. It can happen based on a number of factors including genetics, and other environmental conditions.
Ear correction surgery is simply the use of a variety of techniques to reposition the ears backwards to their normal positions. Additionally in the case of missing or misshapen areas, ear correction surgery aims to form the ear folds to bring about a natural appearance.
Small holes created behind the ear can be used to fix the shape of the ear with the use threads. Alternatively, where there are more deformities, the shape and size of the ear cartilages can be changed using small incisions made behind the ear.
There are many different techniques used in this regard. Most of the different techniques are procedures that do not require hospitalization or general anesthesia. The use of a special sedative, administered intravenously, causes the patient to sleep and come out of the procedure without experiencing any pain. Procedures where only local anesthesia is used and the patient remains awake throughout the procedure can also be easily performed.
What Kind of Advantages can Ear Surgery Provide?
Ear surgery is not limited to the correction of "protruding ears" alone.
If there are no problems in the size of the ear cartilage but deficiencies in the ear folds, it is possible to gain the proper folds in the ear using special threads. Quite satisfactory results are obtained using this method.
If there is a problem with the size of the ear cartilage, that is to say, the ears are protruding, the extra cartilage is removed with small incisions made behind the ear, until there is balance and proportion between the face and the ears. With the creation of the new folds, your ears will have a whole new look that complements your face.

Will There be any Scarring as a Result of Ear Surgery?
No matter which method is used, there is no visible trace after ear surgery since there are no incisions made on the visible part of the ear. The marks behind the ear vary according to the method used. For some patients, there are no incisions used in the procedure, instead only small holes and thread is used to achieve the desired effect. For others, small incisions are used to reshape the cartilage leaving traces behind the ear that are barely visible.
