How Long Should I Wait After Childbirth to Have the Mommy Makeover Procedure?

The date of the surgery will be determined after a detailed evaluation of our specialist.
On average, due to the many procedures that will take place during the Mommy Makeover; it is recommended that breastfeeding mothers wait until 3 months after they finish breastfeeding their child and mothers who are not breastfeeding wait at least 3 months before having the procedure.
If the Mommy Makeover involves breast surgery, the procedure should be carried out 6 months after breastfeeding, and at least 6 months after birth if you are not breastfeeding. The purpose here is to give your breasts time to return to their final size, as volume loss in the breast tissue will continue during this period. In this way the results achieved from the Mommy Makeover will be more pleasing and satisfying.
As you can see, although minimum waiting times are generally defined as 3-6 months, at Istanbul Surgical Arts, we recommend that you wait at least 1 year after childbirth before planning to have the Mommy Makeover performed. It is advisable to avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for 6 weeks.
When Can I Start to Exercise?
We recommend that you wait 2 months before returning to your routine exercise program. This is especially the case for the tummy tuck procedure (abdominoplasty) as healing takes time and if abdominal muscles are forced, negative results can be experienced.
Can Tummy Tuck Procedures be Combined with a Cesarean?
Yes, this is possible but not recommended. Combining cosmetic abdominal surgeries with intra-abdominal interventions such as a caesarean section increases the risk of complications. This means that not only will you not get the desired result, but more importantly, you may have problems with your health.
However, the only reason for the tummy tuck procedure and a cesarean section not being performed together is not possible complications. The other important issue is that the body must have time to recover from pregnancy and childbirth. A tummy tuck performed simultaneous with a caesarean section will be done without giving the body an opportunity to recover. In order to obtain maximum benefit from the Mommy Makeover, it is preferable to perform the tummy tuck independently from the caesarean section.
